Banten is a province on the island of Java, Indonesia. Banten formerly wa part of West Java province, then separated in year 2000, with the decision of the Law No. 23 of 2000.

The headquarters is located in Serang city. Banten region located between 5º7'50 "-7º1'11" South Latitude and 105º1'11 "-106º7'12" east longitude, according to the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 23 / 2000 total area of ​​Banten is 9160.70 km².

Banten Province consists of 4 cities, 4 districts, 154 districts, 262 villages and 1,273 sub-villages. Banten Society and Culture

Banten community is a religious Sundanese although sometimes still believe in the old traditions and customs.

Among others who still adhere to tradition are Bedouins or those Kanekes (Urang Cibeo) that inhabit the foot of the mountains in the village Kendeng Kanekes, Leuwidamar subdistrict, Lebak-Rangkasbitung, located about 40 km from the city Rangkasbitung. Kanekes people 'in' do not know the culture of writing, so that customs, beliefs, and stories ancestors stored only in oral speech alone.

Kanekes community trust called Sunda Wiwitanyang rooted in the worship of ancestral spirits (animism) which then further influenced by Buddhism, Hinduism, and Islam. The most important contents of the 'pikukuh' (compliance) Kanekes is the concept of "without any change", or change as little as possible. For some people, indigenous beliefs held Kanekes reflects the religious beliefs of the Sundanese people in general before the advent of Islam.

Banten Culinary
